Mag.a.Susanne Weisz, teacher for Textile Design at the Europagymnasium Auhof (Linz, Upper Austria) deserves the credit for filling 24 students at the age of 10 and 11 with enthusiasm for the topic "No Blood On My Clothes".
Susanne Weiß about the project and her students: " Buying the desirable items of clothing 'made in' hardly receives attention ... up until a short while ago: Since a few weeks my young textile designers have been tackling their own consumption of fashion and the working conditions in the textile industry. They have described their shopping behaviour and have noticed their similar habits. They like to buy trendy clothes. They enjoy together with their friends searching and trying on new items in the popular shops of the huge fashion chains. Adapting oneself to fashion guarantees variety and a good look. Some of the students already have a distinct preference for brands.

After a few hours of introduction, held by the highly innovative and dedicated project manager, teacher of textile design, Magistra Susanne Weisz, 25 young people will creatively process their personal thoughts on the subject, in the form of drawings, paintings or photographs. The result is then printed on a T-shirt. The AFF platform has found a sponsor, who offers the young people both T-shirts with a biological proven seal as well as the color- and flawless biological printing refinement with their works of art. The T-shirts then belong to the participants!
Their willingness to act and the ability to multiperspective and weighing reflexion is overwhelming. They absolutlely want to take action and to contribute in order to point to the production conditions of their fashion world.
These young textile designers totally stick with visualizing and printing their messages on t-shirts. They develop concise images and slogans to get to the heart of the topic. The first quick designs and drafts are regarded and optimized critically. Graphical, painting and textile technologies are applied. Finally fair trade t-shirts are sponsored and printed by the textile printery promotex. A photo shooting, a presentation and an exhibition at the Modepalast in Linz and an impressive performance at the school's summer event at the city hall follow. They collect signatures for a fair treatment of the sewers in order to confont politics and economy. Fotos Copyright Foto Europagymnasium Aufhof-Linz und Modepalast Wien. facebook
